please join us and invite others May I and all beings be free from enmity May all beings be safe May all beings be healthy May all beings be happy May all beings have ease
Join for as long as you would like to, sending thoughts and prayers for safety, healing and kindness to all beings. Loving - kindness practices offer tools to work with the fear and anger that naturally arise in conflict. We train in the aspiration to hold all beings, including people we find difficult, in non-ill-will. Experiencing all of our emotions, we aspire always, to keep our hearts open, even as they break, finding compassion for suffering, and then equanimity with the ten thousand joys and sorrow that are part of life. Be the love and kindness the world needs, helping each other stay in touch with our beautiful hearts, and in balance with the world. To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction...to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory. -Howard Zinn
When you encounter suffering that you can't stop no matter how hard you try, you need equanimity to avoid creating additional suffering and to channel your energies to areas where you can be of help. In this way, equanimity isn't cold hearted or indifferent. It simply makes your goodwill more focused and effective. -Thanissaro Bhikkhu
