The classic introduction to mindfulness as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, with an emphasis on compassion for oneself and others. Classes are a combination of practice and lecture, with guided practices in mindfulness, body awareness, compassion, and gentle yoga, as well as eating, walking and mindful communication. Lectures integrate findings in science and psychology, allowing time for discussion. MBSR is appropriate for any level of fitness. In the past three decades, mindfulness has become one of the most researched topics in mental health, this course is the gold standard used in that research. Countless studies have shown it to be helpful for medical symptoms, including chronic pain, psychological distress, and managing everyday day stress. Please contact me if you have any questions.
I didn't know what to expect when I started taking MBSR, but I truly think the class rewired my whole brain in the way that I think, the way thatcarry myself, and the way I feel about myself. What I learned through it was that's it's OK not to be perfect, and it gave me a lot of self-condfidence as well as the ability to stand up for myself and change both my work and interpersonal relationships. I think I came out of it a very empowered person, and it was awesome. -Talia Sherman, Age 27, quoted from Tricycle Magazine

I realize than forget, then realize that mind is an ax that splits the one continuous moment.- Chase Twichell ‘Mindfulness and clear comprehension’ is the full expression of mindfulness, it refers to a full and compassionate awareness of our moment-to-moment experience. We will use this time to strengthen our awareness of the movements of the heart, and train the mind towards towards letting go of the false urgency of distraction and anxiety. Without continuous feeding, our habits of memory, fear, expectations, and bias become less dominant, allowing the world to come alive. The retreat will be in Noble Silence, with alternating sessions of sitting and walking practice.

Are you interested in trying a different approach? Mindfulness is not therapy, nor quite as trendy as coaching. It is a scientifically-based mind-body training focused on psychological health, and/or spiritual growth.
Training is the key! If you have ever learned how to play a musical instrument, if you are like most of us, you needed to practice. Our fingers learn by experience. In the same way, reading articles, understanding the concepts about mindfulness, doesn't reduce stress, practice does.
Schedule an appointment to begin training, or deepen the practice you already have. Techniques can target personal issues, or generally reduce stress, and boost wellness.
Each session is a combination of discussion with personalized guided practice. It is especially supportive in times of transition. If you are involved in ongoing psychotherapy, mindfulness is effective reinforcement for self-compassion.. There can never be too much kindness.
Mindfulness is natural, always available, and always appropriate. There are many different paths, many of them good. My own practice has been steeped in compassion, I love sharing what I have learned. Please contact me if you would to know a little more. Skype or phone appointments are possible. Couples appointments are available for mindful communication if at least one person already has some mindfulness training. Affordable sliding scale fee. email@example.com
